Vania Zouravliov Biography

"Russian-born Vania Zouravliov was inspired from an early age by influences as diverse as The Bible, Dante’s Divine Comedy, early Disney animation and North American Indians. Something of a child prodigy in his homeland, he was championed by many influential classical musicians including Ashkenazi, Spivakov and Menuhin. He even had television programs made about him and was introduced to famous communist artists, godfathers of social realism, who told him that his work was from the Devil.

By the age of 13, Vania Zouravliov was exhibiting internationally, visited Canterbury several times as well as Paris, Colmar and Berlin. He subsequently studied in the UK, and during this time began creating illustrations for The Scotsman and comics for Fantagraphics and Dark Horse in the US. His most recent projects have been for Beck's The Information and National Geographic. "

I was live painting for the second time in Tokyo; I guess I'm starting to get hooked...It's been a crazy month for us, working as hell on our online shop and other projects on the side, so it was good to take a break from the computer...All I can say is that it's been one of the craziest party so far.... I love this place, I love the people who were there, and I'm really gonna miss it when we'll be leaving Tokyo...

On ne pouvait pas être là étant à Tokyo, mais voici un petit rapport de Customania sur le vernissage, enjoy =)

"REPORT" VERNISSAGE DE L'EXPO CHEZ DADAWAN/MADTURNIP !

Paris, 10ème arrondissement - le vendredi 27 juin 2008 à 18h.
Une petite troupe attend devant le shop-galerie Dadawan/Madturnip l'ouverture de l'exposition, les premiers visiteurs arrivent. Un grand verre de « Brigand » pour les organisateurs (bière importée directement de Belgique) et le bal peut commencer...
Ça entre, ça sort, ça re-rentre pour bien tout revoir. Beaucoup de belles pièces et certaines de grande qualité. Ça claque et on en prend plein les dents comme la planche de skate déglinguée de Spia79.
Un petit verre de bière et un peu d'air frais histoire de se remettre les idées au clair.
Tout le monde est là sur le trottoir : Niark1, Bunka, Hellofreaks, Chocoklash, Miss K, Shade, Bureau de onde, Kraie, Fakir, Ipnsone, Eliz, Actionone et plein d'autres... Beaucoup ont fait le déplacement de Lille pour l'occasion.
Sale temps pour les piétons et les riverains, ça bavarde, ça boit, ça fume, ça échange des cartes de visites ou quelques conseils entre artistes/Graphistes.
L'espace d'un instant, c'était vraiment le lieu où il fallait être pour tous fans de customisation!
Entre Toyz, Sneakers, T-shirts, Toiles, Vynils, Telephone, et autres objets customisés, il y'a de quoi de voir pour les visiteurs !
Et ça, jusqu'au 12 juillet 2008.

my partner in crime and I been working a lot lately on some tee and bags design, we screen print everything ourselves, and yeah, having a screen print in our 15m2 studio didn't make things easy, but we're super happy, relieved and proud to present some of our first designs! yeeha. enjoy :)
